Protecting Leather Seats from Sun Damage
July 22, 2026
Leather seats are a premium investment, but the sun is their absolute biggest enemy. Without proper care, they will deteriorate rapidly.
Why Leather Cracks
Leather is essentially organic skin. When exposed to extreme UV rays and heat, the natural oils evaporate, leaving it dry, stiff, and prone to cracking. Once leather cracks, it cannot be 'healed'; it must be replaced or patched.
The Two-Step Defense
1. Physical Barrier: Always use a custom-fit windshield sunvisor to physically block the UV rays from entering the cabin.
2. Chemical Barrier: Condition your leather every 3-6 months using a high-quality leather conditioner with UV protectants to replenish the lost oils. Combined, these steps will keep your seats supple for decades.
